 The GT Obser
vatory offers schools a unique opportunity to view the Moon and other obje
cts in the night sky – while during the school day! Through remote contr
ol and viewing with the Aloha Telescope\, students can experience a live v
iewing using a telescope from their classrooms. Located in Maui\, the Aloh
a Telescope offers schools the unique opportunity of telescope viewing dur
ing the day time. Depending upon viewing conditions\, objects such as the
Moon\, planets and their moons in our solar system\, as well as more dista
nt objects are viewable using the Aloha Telescope. In addition\, participa
ting students from learn from GT Observatory Director\, Dr. Jim Sowell\, a
bout the solar system\, space\, galaxies\, and other topics based upon the
  participating grade level(s).
In-Person For schools in the Atlanta area
\, the GT Observatory can come to you! Schools can request this viewing se
ssion using the form linked below. Please provide as much information as p
ossible to help us coordinate a session that makes the most sense for your
students given their grade level and prior knowledge.
 Virtual The GT Ob
servatory has partnered with STEM@GTRI’s Direct to Discovery program to
offer virtual viewing sessions that can be offered remotely to classrooms.
These sessions still offer the interactivity and ability for remote contr
ol of the telescope\, but allow for schools beyond the Atlanta area to par
 ticipate in this exciting opportunity!
 Viewing Conditions The optimal vi
ewing window is from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM ET. Specific viewing conditions a
nd school considerations will dictate the final scheduling of any session.
