Topic: Classroom Management for Disruptive Behaviors. This presentatio
n goes through many of the disruptive behaviors that can derail learning i
n the classroom and shares evidence-based interventions you can use.
 Thi
s presentation will focus on the variety of behaviors that show up in the
classroom when teaching 12-18-year-old students. Secondary teachers freque
ntly point to escaping work and gaining attention as the reasons behind be
haviors. This presentation will show participants how to ameliorate the ty
pical behaviors by instituting proactive solutions. Dr. Riffel will share
examples from real students she has worked with over the years and the sol
utions that made the behaviors disappear. So often\, participants in a sem
inar will say\, “What do you do about a student who has (xyz) behavior?
”  The truth is there is no one answer for the “xyz” behavior quest
ion. The answer lies in understanding the function of the behavior and put
ting proactive strategies in place to restructure the environment\, replac
e the behavior\, and reframe our response.
This class is limited to part
icipants from Heart of Georgia RESA member systems.
