Understanding the Brain
This video uses puppets to help children understand what is going on in their brains when they are upset. They will learn some breathing techniques and some words to use.
This video is in three parts-
- Understanding the brain stem, the amygdala, and the prefrontal cortex.
- Understanding how to calm down the amygdala when it overreacts to a stimulus.
- What words to use to convey to the adult what they were feeling, what triggered the feeling, and their plan for being successful.
We have field tested this practice with may students in the Pre-K through First Grade Level and on our own toddlers.
