In some cases, information in this document goes beyond the scope of the standard and offers background and enrichment information to support lesson plan design. The goal of Social Studies instruction is for students to engage with the content through inquirybased activities in each lesson. To do so, teachers should utilize the four dimensions of inquirybased instruction: questioning, disciplinary thinking, source evaluation, and communicating ideas."
