1887.1 Resource, Gordon, Integrating Mentor Texts into Units of Study Sessions: Grade Three

The children’s literature selections were chosen to supplement the Writing Minilessons  in Crafting True Stories (Grade 3, Unit 1 Narrative) and A Guide to the Writing Workshop, Intermediate Grades.  Suggestions for each of the Mentor Texts are integrated into the Minilesson. Page numbers for Crafting True Stories are included for ease of locating writing techniques and skills and/or the relevant portions of the lesson.

The Mentor Texts for Grade 3 are

Crafting True Stories includes instruction in Character, Plot, Scene, Leads and Endings, Details, Action, and Dialogue.
