Description: Designed especially for new district and school leaders, instructional coaches, and leaders new to ELA, this session provides the foundational knowledge and leadership lens needed to support effective implementation of Georgia’s K–12 ELA Standards. Participants will build an understanding of the standards’ organization, domains, conceptual shifts, and expectations; explore how standards connect to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and how to design supports for every learner; and consider the leadership structures that create coherence across a school or district.

Leaders will also examine assessment and student performance data to identify patterns, determine instructional needs, and make sound decisions about teaching, support, professional learning, and next steps. During the session, participants will apply practical tools and leadership look-fors to connect the pieces into a coherent ELA system and leave better equipped to ask the right questions, support teachers, and intentionally design the conditions for ELA success.
